1989 – 1992 Highlights
The 1989 golf season started without a Tournament Director, this would continue through 1992. We did hold our fourth annual Tom Stead memorial scramble tournament at Green Tree G.C. on March 4th. The team of Bob Bohnet, J. Bohnet, Phil Eubanks and Don Scribner won the tournament. We raised $100.00 for the American Heart Association, total to date $441.00.
The next tournament was held at Kennedy G.C. on July 29th. Dave Pearce won the first flight with Boyd Cook second and Denzil Storbeck and Don Scribner tied for third. The second flight was won by Mark Reinhart with the trio of Sandie Cook, Phil Eubanks and Tony Ramos taking second place, Bob Bohnet finished third. Gary Beckman and Tony Ramos won the CP’s with Sandie Cook and John Ortiz winning the LD’s.
The nineteenth annual Winners Tournament was held at Boundary Oak G.C. on September 16th. After playing nine holes, play was stopped due to lighting in the immediate area. After play was stopped it rained very hard for the rest of the day. John Ortiz won the tournament with Mike and Sandie Cook tied for second place. Press Bemis was alone in third place. Steve Blotzer won the CP, Boyd Cook and Bob Bohnet took the LD’s ( both on the same nine )
The Pyramid Tournament was unique as it was played using Best-Ball teams. The team of Phil Eubanks and Don Scribner ( $32.00 ) won the tournament with the team of Jim Grant and John Ortiz finishing second ( $16.00 ). Low net money went to the teams of Dave Pearce, Tony Ramos ( $7.00 ) Phil Eubanks, Don Scribner ( $7.00 ), Larry Campbell, Mike Cook ( $8.00 ) and Boyd and Sandie Cook ( $10.00 )
The operating teams also formed two person best-ball teams to compete against each other. The winning team got nothing but bragging rights, the losing team got the skunk trophy. In play at Franklin Canyon G.C. it was the Grant, Ortiz team ( team 6 ) with a 68 over the Bohnet, Blotzer team ( team 1 ) with a 79. The Campbell, Cook team ( team 6 ) with a 65 over the Eubanks, Sharp team ( team 1 ) with a 71 in a non skunk event.
The 1990 golf season started with the fifth annual Tom Stead memorial scramble tournament at Green Tree G.C. on March 24th. The team of Rollin Podwys, Bob Bohnet, Phil Eubanks and Steve Blotzer tied with the team of Mike Cook, Larry Campbell and Andy Marquez ( 4th player was a no show ) for first place. We raised $120.00 for the American Heart Association, total to date $561.00.
The twentieth annual Winners Tournament was played at Kennedy G.C. on September 1st. Mark Reinhart won the tournament by one stroke over John Ortiz in second and two strokes over Sandie Cook in third. No one won the CP’s, the LD’s were won by Sandie Cook and John Ortiz.

The 1991 golf season started with a rainout of the Tom Stead memorial scramble at Green Tree G.C. on March 2nd with 28 players ready to go. The tournament date was moved to June 15th taking the place of the scheduled Best-Ball tournament. The sixth annual Tom Stead was played with the team of Denzil Storbeck, Mark Reinhart, Debbie and Sonny Menzel winning first place. With $100.00 raised we brought our total to date to $661.00 for the American Heart Association.
The 21st annual Winners Tournament took place at Kennedy G.G. on August 3rd. Sandie Cook won the tournament with Denzil Storbeck second and Mike Cook third. John Ortiz won a CP and a LD. Sandie Cook won the other CP, Bob Bohnet the other LD.

The 1992 golf season was the shortest yet, our Tom Stead scramble tournament at Green Tree G.C. had to be cancelled as the golf course lost our tournament date. Contributions to the American Heart Association in Tom’s name were included in the Winners Tournament.
